· Sr. DBA will have overall responsibility for maintaining data in the Production, Development and Certification Teradata databases. This responsibility includes creating tables, views, and indexes and ensuring the databases are available during required timeframes. The DBA will have co-responsibility with the Data Warehouse Architect to ensure that the databases run efficiently. The DBA will have co-responsibility with the Data Modelers to ensure the production data model is in synch with the logical model. The Sr. DBA will: manage performance tuning on the database, monitor and estimate space usage management, and regulate data access and security. The Sr. DBA will coordinate with the NCR and EDS system administrators to manage Teradata releases and updates. The DBA will be first tier support for operational data loading and data access issues and have joint production support responsibility with TDW developers.
· A successful candidate for the Sr. DBA position will have excellent written and oral communication skills and must work well with the technical and business communities to understand and deliver projects that increase the value of the data assets. The candidate must have a minimum of 4 years experience with the Teradata database system and utilities, be well versed in writing and evaluating complex SQL and have a broad understanding of data warehouse concepts and techniques. The successful candidate will have completed the Teradata Master certification, have experience using the ERWin data modeling tools and should have experience supporting the data layer for Cognos, Business Objects or other business intelligence tools in a data warehouse environment. The DBA must work well within a team environment as-well-as be a self-starter in initiating TDW monitoring and improvements.
